Josephine Pierre - Founder & Artistic Director
Josephine Pierre is an ordained Pastor and the Founder and Artistic Director of Dance My Spirit! International School of Ministries.
Pastor Josephine holds a Bachelor and a Master’s degree in Social Work with minor in Spanish from Adelphi University (NY), and a Diploma in Theology with a Minor in Sacred Arts from Caribbean Christ for the Nation Bible Institute, (Montego Bay, Jamaica). Josephine is a Bilingual Licensed Master Social Worker and is currently working on her PhD in Public Policy and Public Administration.
Josephine has been dancing for 23 years. She started out dancing with Shekinah Glory of Love and Faith World Outreach Ministries (Kingston, Jamaica) in 1995. Mrs. Pierre was exposed to teachings of Margaret Yap of Shacah Ministry, (Texas, USA) where she learned the concepts of tambourine movements. In addition, she was also involved with the teachings of Pat Noble, founder of Praise Academy of Dance, (Kingston, Jamaica) and the Rev. Stephanie Butler-Adams of Spirit of Praise Sacred Arts Institute, Intl; as well as other related dance ministries.
Pastor Pierre ministered throughout her native land of Jamaica. With her 2nd language of Spanish, she also traveled among the Hispanic nations of Cuba and Mexico as a missionary, where Josephine ministered the love of Jesus through her passion of dance, sign and drama. Since migrating to the USA in 2004, Josephine has been affiliated with the National Liturgical Dance Network under the Rev. Eyesha Marable (founder). She also minister at the Prophetic Center annual retreat under Prophetess Sandra Lugo as well as danced with the Full Gospel Tabernacle praise team (NY), her then home church. Pastor Josephine Pierre graduated from Dancing for Him Ministries, where she received her teaching certification, dance license and ordination. Minister Pierre is also affiliated with other ministries in Montserrat where she teaches how prophetic dance advances the kingdom of God.
Josephine currently danced with the Glorious Praise Dancer in the Capital Region NYS. In addition, Pastor Pierre volunteered her talent in teaching praise dance to ages 3-14 at New Hope church after school program; has danced at various churches, community events, flash mobs, at the Albany National Day of Prayer, Hope for a Woman’s Heart annual event, Benefit concert, as well as is featured on the Scarf Dancing for Him DVD (2013). She has been trained in ballet, modern, and Horton technique; in addition to dance in praise and worship, interpretive dance, liturgical and processional, choreography, African and warfare dance, expressive sign, drama in dance, artistic worship, and prophetic dance, just to name a few. Minister Josephine brings power, presence and extravagant joy to the art of Worship dance, where she allows her spirit to dance.
