Fasting and Prayer
When was the last time you spent time in fasting and prayer? I guess you all know what is prayer but do you know what is fasting?
In Matthew 6:16 Jesus didn't say if you fast but WHEN you fast. This implies a mandate, a command, an expectation that we must do. It is just as important as going to God's house weekly and much more important than dance rehearsals.
So biblical fasting is the abstaining from physical food and the day to day pleasure so as to eat from Him spiritually for a period of time. Yes we fast because its a command and we can ask for things.
But how about fasting and praying saying "Jesus I want to know you intimately, where I come naked and unashamed face to face before the throne of grace" And how about we wait upon Him until He extends His sceptre like unto Queen Esther, then we can hear Him say "come up higher and I will show you great and mighty things.
As dance ministers, we are levites and priests. We are expected to lie low on our faces before God. Out of this encounter, our lives will be a perfume as oil spew out continually from our broken alabaster box. Our worship dance will be like incense arising to the Heavenly Father. He'll then inhabit our praise and bless others.
Lets pray and ask the Holy Spirit to lead us into prayer and fasting.
